Denver Elections 2023

CWA Endorsements (for full list, please scroll down)

As you know the 2023 Denver General Election is Tuesday April 4, 2023.

How you vote is a personal decision. In partnership with the Denver Area Labor Federation, members and leaders of CWA have done the research and believe that the list of CWA-endorsed candidates are the best choices to represent working people.

These candidates have undergone a rigorous evaluation process conducted by members and elected leaders of your local union. They have demonstrated their commitment to CWA members and their families by supporting expanded collective bargaining rights, raising wages, and making our workplaces safer. We are proud to say that they have earned our endorsement and hope you consider this as you cast your ballot.

Our local unions are building independent worker power. We work for workers, not for political parties. Elections matter. The right elected leaders can set the stage for us to win organizing victories, protect our safety and security on the job, expand collective bargaining rights, enforce wage theft protections, and pass policies like paid sick leave and whistleblower protections for all workers. As your elected CWA leadership, we ask that you consider these candidates to help set the stage for us to thrive.

Ballots will be arriving in the mail soon for all registered voters in Denver. March 27th is the final day to mail in your ballot to ensure it’s received by election day. You can drop off at a 24-hour drop box until 7pm April 4th. Most in-person voting centers are open beginning March 27th. To find your nearest ballot drop-off location or Voter Service and Polling Center, please go to Denvervotes.org.

Thank you for the work that you do. Your vote will strengthen and grow our movement of workers. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me or your local union president directly.

More than 30 candidates heard from our union members at our CWA Candidate Education Forums in February — and completed our candidate screening questionnaire.

Why we are voting for pro-worker candidates:

  • Eric Ametefe, CWA 7777

“I live here in Denver and I have been driving for Uber for years. Living in Denver is unaffordable on what I earn. We need elected officials who are going to stand up for working people.”

  • Jacob Oldefest, CWA 7799

“There are few things that are more relevant to the organizing of Public Workers than local elections. Meeting and building relationships with our electeds can allow us to advocate in the public commons for those things our bosses withhold: worker protections, improved funding for public services, and a voice in the workplace.”
