Candidate for Treasurer
Why I’m Running
Hi everyone! I have three main goals for this upcoming term:
(1) improving overall transparency around the budget (periodic membership-wide budget reports? budget town halls?)
(2) setting up a flexible budget planning structure that allows units to plan ahead for the resources they need, while being mindful of allocating resources for units that don't have the capacity to plan their budgets
(3) involving myself in the upcoming contract negotiations between us and our Local staff (themselves unionized with UFCW), which is reopening in Fall 2023.
Experience
I have been the acting Secretary-Treasurer of Local 7799 for 2022, since the previous Secretary-Treasurer stepped down for parental leave in the middle of his term. I'd like to serve a full term this coming year!
Here is a list of the elected leadership roles I've taken in our union/Local:
UCW steering committee: 2020-2022 (two terms)
UCW treasurer: 2021-2022
Local 7799 treasurer: 2022
I'm also an active organizer with United Campus Workers, doing work with membership and graduate committees, and especially organizing the Graduate and Family Housing at CU Boulder.
