Devon Balent
Running for: Treasurer
Bio: Howdy, my name is Devon (he/him/his)! Since January 2024, I’ve been a member of UCW, and I have been working at CU Anschutz as a Social Media Manager since March 2023. I have a BA in History and minors in Political Science and Film. I’m also currently the interim treasurer (since November 2025).
I quickly joined the union because of my general belief in workers’ rights and wanting to join a movement to make real change in higher education institutions. I also organize and believe in mutual aid, so I’ve been working on expanding and crossing over those two spheres since I’ve lived here in Denver (I’m from upstate New York). Outside of organizing, you will probably find me at one of the local metal bars or the movie theater. -

Nesya Sloane
Running for: Communications Officer
Bio: I am a graduate student research assistant in the chemistry department at CU Boulder. My research interests are in rechargeable batteries and equitable development and deployment of renewable energy technologies. I currently serve on the CWA 7799 Finance Committee as well as the CU Boulder Chemistry Graduate Student Government, where I have been focusing on grad student pay equity. Outside of union organizing and science, I love bicycles and watching and playing as many sports as possible. (Come watch hockey and play rugby with me!)
